Creepy Crawly Habitats!

Writer's picture: Ms A WellingsMs A Wellings

Year 2 have been learning about habitats in Science. The children predicted what conditions woodlice would prefer for their habitat and then worked together in groups to set up four different areas with four different conditions in a tray. We then added three woodlice to each. We observed them closely for about 20 minutes and looked at the woodlice through magnifying glasses. The woodlice crawled quickly, looking for cover to hide under. They preferred the damp, dark areas to the light, dry areas. It was a fabulous science lesson!
