Love For Reading
A child's reading skills are important to their success in school, as they will allow them to access the breadth of the curriculum and improve their communication and language skills. In addition, reading can be a fun and imaginative time for children, opening doors to all kinds of new worlds for them. At Cotwall End Primary School, we understand how important it is to foster a love for reading from an early age. As soon as children start school, we ensure that stories are shared and children are regularly heard to read.
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." (Dr. Seuss)
"I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers, to be comfortable with a book, not daunted. Books shouldn't be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful. Learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage." (Roald Dahl)
"Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counsellors, and the most patient of teachers." (Charles W. Eliot)
