Starting Primary School - Reception Intake for September 2027
Children start primary school in Reception the September after their 4th birthday. If your child was born between 1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023, your child will need to start school in September 2027. Your application can be completed online from Thursday 1st October 2026 until midnight on Friday 15th January 2027. Admissions will send out formal decisions in April 2027.
We will start showing our September 2027 families around school during the Autumn 2026 Term. To book a tour of our school in advance of making your child's primary school application, please contact the School Office from September 2026 on 01384 818730 or email info@cotwall.dudley.sch.uk. In the meantime, please see our admissions video below.
Changing Schools (In-Year Admissions)
In-year admissions relate to school places other than the main point of entry, usually if your child is changing schools. If you wish to apply for an in-year school place and you live within the Dudley Local Authority, you must contact Dudley Admissions Service in the first instance, as they handle all of our places and waiting lists. The telephone number is 0300 555 2345. Admissions will provide the necessary paperwork for you to complete and it is likely that your child's current school will also have to complete and return a section of the paperwork. If we have a space in your required year group(s), Admissions will formally offer you the place(s). You are then encouraged to contact us directly on 01384 818730 to arrange a start date and book a school tour. If there are no spaces in your required year group(s), you can ask Admissions to add your child to our waiting list.
Note: In-year offers must be accepted within a 10 day time period, otherwise they will be withdrawn. A place cannot be held or reserved; for example, if you are waiting to move house. If you accept an offer, it is likely that your child will start straight away, rather than at the start of a new term (unless your offer happens to coincide with the end of term). If you are not in the position to take up the place, we cannot guarantee it will still be available when you are ready to change schools.
